A workshop to promote gender equality in and through media on a global scale through research, education and participation.

This workshop is being run as part of the UNESCO UniTWIN, a university network program that aims to promote gender equality in and through media on a global scale through research, education and participation.
The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in the program and gender equality across the media.
The program supports training and research on media, information and communication technologies (ICTs), which are critical to the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
UniTWIN has members from all regions in the world and is co chaired by RMIT and UNAM Universities as well as being connected with the Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMAG) Framework and Plan of Action.
Areas of focus include violence of gender, media and information, women’s access to media, gender media policy and strategies, and gender, education and media information literacy.
Aimée Vega Montiel - National Autonomous University of Mexico
Aimée Vega Montiel is Researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She is an expert on gender and media and Vice President, International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She chairs both the Research Committee and Latin American Chapter of the ‘Global Alliance on Media and Gender’ (GAMAG). She is also Co-Chair of UNESCO Unitwin on Gender, Media and ICTs. Read more
Lisa French - RMIT University
Lisa French is Professor and Deputy Dean (Media) in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia) and co-chair of the UNESCO-UN Media, Gender and ICTs University Network (UniTWIN). She is the co-author of several books, including Womenvision: Women and the Moving Image in Australia (2003). Her PhD and MA research were both focused on gender and film and she has published widely in these fields in local and international journals. Read more.
Delphine Borione - Union for the Mediterranean
Delphine Borione was appointed Deputy Secretary General in the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean in 2013, and Senior Deputy Secretary General in 2016. She worked on environmental, development and global issues in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the Office of the President of the French Republic. She had also assignments in the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). Read more.
